Mechanical Fitter, Kilmarnock, Salary from £40,000 to £41,000 per annum!

 

Are you a skilled Mechanical Fitter looking to thrive in a new role? Here at Aspirare, we have a new opportunity for Mechanical Fitters to work for an established engineering company in the Kilmarnock area. The successful candidate will deliver top quality mechanical services on rail vehicles and rolling stock, with opportunities to work across the UK and Ireland.

Mon-Thu 7:30am-4:30pm, Fri 7:30am-1:30pm

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out the overhaul, maintenance, inspection, and repair of rail vehicles and rolling stock.
  • Dismantle and reassemble safety-critical components (such as bogies, brake actuators, and axles) in line with technical specifications and drawings.
  • Diagnose faults and perform repairs on mechanical systems.
  • Remove, service, reinstall, and test door mechanisms and related components.
  • Accurately complete documentation and work instructions while contributing effectively within a team environment.
  • Foster constructive working relationships with colleagues, clients, and external partners.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures as detailed in the Employee Handbook.
  • Take on additional tasks as needed during periods of high or low workload, demonstrating a flexible and proactive approach.

 

Successful Candidate:

  • Time-served with recognised qualifications, preferably within rail or heavy vehicle maintenance environments.
  • Skilled in accurately completing documentation and adhering to established procedures.
  • Well-versed in health and safety protocols, including awareness of bio-hazards, manual handling, and COSHH regulations.
  • Ideally experienced in carrying out mechanical modifications (MODS) on rail vehicles and interpreting engineering drawings.
  • Demonstrates strong attention to detail with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Takes responsibility for the proper use and upkeep of tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Prior experience with rolling stock modifications is considered an advantage.
