Here at Aspirare, we have an exciting up and coming opportunity for an Estimator. The successful candidate will oversee the estimation and pricing of contracts throughout Scotland.
Responsibilities:
- Review project specifications, drawings, and requirements to determine the scope of work.
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for materials, labour, and other expenses for projects.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to gather relevant data for accurate bidding.
- Analyse historical data and industry trends to develop competitive and profitable pricing strategies.
- Assess and evaluate risks associated with each project to ensure all potential costs are accounted for.
- Provide timely and accurate cost reports, including breakdowns of labour, materials, and overheads.
- Respond to client inquiries and provide clarifications on estimates when required.
- Maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure the best possible pricing and availability.
- Track and update estimating records, databases, and software for future reference.
- Support the preparation of tender submissions and bids for various projects.
- Attend pre-tender meetings and site visits as needed to assess project scope and requirements.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience as an estimator in a relevant field, along with a degree-level qualification. In-depth knowledge of concrete structures and steel buildings within the construction industry is essential.
- Oversee all aspects of bid submissions, ensuring deadlines are met, reviewing bid documents, and developing a strategic approach to deliver a competitive quote.
- Generate precise and competitive cost estimates, conducting detailed quantity take-offs to support the estimating process.
- Identify potential value engineering solutions, assess risks, and contribute to the Project Risk Register. Prepare and review tender documentation, including technical notes and qualifications.
- Ensure tenders are prepared accurately, incorporating the latest pricing methodologies. Consider all relevant documents, such as bill descriptions, drawings, revisions, specifications, client pricing instructions, and risk registers during the tender process.
